Millionaire Tim Gurner apologises for 'deeply insensitive' comments
Multimillionaire property developer Tim Gurner has apologised for "insensitive" comments directed at unemployment and productivity.
Mr Gurner’s quotes on the “need” for unemployment to rise and for economic pain to “remind people they work for the employer” drew monumental backlash from Australia and around the world.
The comments came from a property summit where Mr Gurner was delivering a speech which made it online within a few hours and generated commentary all over the world.
Mr Gurner has since admitted his comments were “deeply insensitive” and conceded his “words did not convey empathy” for people who may lose their jobs.
This is the second time Mr Gurner has gone viral for comments publicly perceived as lacking sensitivity after a 2017 monologue directed at millennials who buy smashed avocado instead of houses.
